The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit (EHSU) conducted a comprehensive store inspection within the Kpando Municipality to assess hygiene and safety standards. The inspection revealed several concerns, including the presence of dust and cobwebs in some stores, the sale of expired and dented products, infestations of mice and cockroaches, and the accumulation of refuse behind certain shops.
As part of the exercise, the Bishop Herman Water Factory was also inspected. EHSU officers observed that the factory employs skilled personnel who consistently adhere to safety and hygiene protocols, particularly in the discharge of their duties. The inspection covered the working area, cloakroom, and sanitary facilities, where staff were educated on personal hygiene practices, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and effective waste management.
Furthermore, Environmental Health Officers ensured that all workers in the factories visited had undergone medical screening, reinforcing the Assembly’s commitment to safeguarding public health and promoting high standards of hygiene across the Municipality.
