On March 6, 2026, the Kpando Municipality joined the rest of the nation in commemorating Ghana’s 69th Independence Day. The colorful celebration, held at the forecourt of the Municipal Health Directorate in Tsakpe New Town, served as a vibrant tribute to the nation’s sovereignty and heritage.
The ceremony commenced at 7:40 AM at the Kpando Durbar Grounds, with a formal parade inspection by the Honourable Municipal Chief Executive, Killian Donkor, led by the Divisional Police Commander and the Municipal Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service.
Following the inspection, a spirited march-past proceeded from the Durbar Grounds, passing through the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital and Bishop Herman College Junction, and culminating at the Municipal Health Directorate. The parade showcased the discipline of the security services and the enthusiastic participation of the Cadet Corps of the three Senior High Schools in the Municipality.
Addressing the gathering as the Reviewing Officer, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive delivered a stirring keynote address centered on the year’s theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.”

“This year’s theme calls on all Ghanaians to reflect on our national achievements, honestly review our current challenges, and reset our priorities to ensure sustainable development and shared prosperity for all.”

Member of Parliament (MP) for Kpando Constituency, The Divisional Police Commander, The Municipal Coordinating Director, The Municipal Director of Education, Security Services, Staff of the Municipal Assembly, Students and Teachers from representing schools, and Media Personnel.
