On Thursday, 27th November 2025, the people of Kpando Municipal gathered at Atta Mills Park, Kpando, to celebrate the 41st National Farmers’ Day under the theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.”
The celebration brought together a distinguished gathering, including the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Killian Donkor; the Presiding Member, Hon. Agboka Timothy; traditional authorities; Assembly Members; farmer groups; Heads of Departments; staff of the District Assembly and the Department of Agriculture; representatives of government agencies; and residents from across the Municipality.
In the keynote address, tribute was paid to the hardworking farmers and fisherfolk whose dedication sustains households and significantly drives the municipal economy. The address also highlighted the numerous challenges confronting the agricultural sector, including climate change, limited access to financing, and inadequate post-harvest systems. Despite these challenges, farmers were applauded for their resilience and their willingness to adopt modern and innovative agricultural practices.
A major highlight of the event was the recognition of fifteen (15) outstanding farmers for their exceptional contributions to food production and rural development. Their achievements continue to inspire the Municipality’s commitment to strengthening agricultural growth and sustainability.
The address further reaffirmed the Government’s dedication, under the leadership of H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, to advancing the agricultural sector through flagship initiatives such as the Feed Ghana Programme, the Tree Crop Diversification Project, climate-smart agriculture interventions, improved agro-input distribution, and expanded irrigation systems aimed at enhancing productivity and livelihoods.
