{"id":1899,"date":"2025-11-02T21:55:02","date_gmt":"2025-11-02T21:55:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kpma.gov.gh\/?page_id=1899"},"modified":"2025-11-02T22:10:27","modified_gmt":"2025-11-02T22:10:27","slug":"nadmo","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kpma.gov.gh\/index.php\/departments\/nadmo\/","title":{"rendered":"NADMO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>DISASTER MANAGEMENT AND PREVENTION DEPARTMENT (NADMO)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Disaster Management and Prevention Department<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(a)assist in planning and implementation of programmes to prevent and\/or mitigate disaster in the Municipal within the framework of national policies;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(b) facilitate the organization of public disaster education campaign programmes to: create and sustain awareness of hazards of disaster; and emphasize the role of the individual in the prevention of disaster;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(c)assist and facilitate education and training of volunteers; to fight fires including bush fires, or take measures to manage the after effects of natural disasters;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(d)prepare and review district disaster prevention and management plans to prevent or control disasters arising from floods, bush fires, and human settlement fires; outbreak of communicable diseases; and earthquakes and other natural disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(e)facilitate the organization of disaster management exercises annually;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(f)ensure compliance with rules in respect of private and public properties to ensure adequate protection against disasters;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(g)facilitate the provision of emergency shelters and services in the event of disasters;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(h) in consultation and collaboration with appropriate agencies, identify disaster zones and take necessary steps to; educate people within the areas and prevent development activities which may give riseto disasters in the area;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(i) participate in post disaster assessment to determine the extent of damage and needs of the disaster area;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(j) co-ordinate the receiving, management and supervision of the distribution of relief items in the district;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(k)investigate reports and analyze the nature of hazards, vulnerability and risk situations;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(l)facilitate collection, collation and preservation of data on disasters in the Municipal;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(m) inspect and offer technical advice on the importance of fire extinguishers;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(n)co-ordinate the organization of Fire Volunteer Squads at the community level;
