KPANDO ASSEMBLY DISBURSES CASH TO PWDS

The Kpando Municipal Assembly has disbursed GH¢41,223.00 as part of the two per cent Disability Fund of the Common Fund to persons with disability.
In all, 54 beneficiaries from the municipality received amounts ranging between GH¢400 and GH¢1,000.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Paulina Delali Adinyira, who supervised the distribution of the cheques, assured the beneficiaries of government’s commitment to making sure that persons with disability were treated equally like others, without any discrimination.

She called on the public to show love and affection to the vulnerable in society by providing them with basic necessities of life such as shelter, clothing, food and social security.
Mrs. Adinyira cautioned that the money was not meant for buying of funeral clothes, but for productive ventures that would improve their living standards.

The MCE urged non-members of the association to join such groups since it was easier for them to fight for their rights as a group than individuals.
She assured that the assembly was ready to assist those of them willing to acquire skills like carpentry, tailoring, shoemaking and soap making.

Madam Vivian Nartey, chairperson of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisation, lauded the government for the initiative, and stated that the poor and the vulnerable in society needed to be supported to make them useful to themselves and the country.
She appealed to the society not to discriminate against the poor and vulnerable in society but to share what they have with them.

Madam Cecilia Tenu, a beneficiary expressed happiness that the amount she collected will help her expand her business.
